The BBS has many great young players who could offer quite a lot any team. But these young guns, are the Top 5 Players To Build Around.
5. C Greg Oden
A- C- C- A B+ B
In a league without many stars at the C position, Greg is highly valuable. Not only is he signed for 5 years to a reasonable contract, but he is producing. Greg is playing a bit over his head at this time but the young big man is averaging 30.3 PPG/10.5 RPG/2.5 BPG. This guy is the closest thing to a young Tim Duncan in the BBS. He has a true mentor teaching him the physics of Defense in Ben Wallace and a good PG to dish him the ball in Chris Paul. I really like what the Nets have done, building a team around defense and a young Big man who has the potential to be the best one of the best ever. Lets trade teams?
4. SF Kevin Durant
A- A- B- B C+ B
Atlanta picked up quite a stud to build their team around. Durant is only 22 years old and can score from any part of the court. He is a sound basketball player who can play all 5 positions with ease Also he is locked up for 6 years at a solid contract which he will easily produce numbers similar to 28 PPG/6 RPG/5 APG. Durant is drawing comparisons to uhh... no one. He is a unique once in a century player that will definitely be taking footsteps into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
3. PG Derrick Rose
A- C+ A A- C A
Drools come out of every GMs mouth when they see Derrick's ability. Derrick simply makes other players better. Paul Pierce should share half of his immense contract with Rose because of the amount of easy buckets he finds for Pierce. DRose is still only 22 Years old and with a few TCs to improve his outside shooting, he could become the ultimate threat. As long as Utah has Rose, they will be a contender in the West. DRose is up for an extension over the summer and Utah would be smart to lock him up because if they don't, every team in the league should be calling.
2. C Dwight Howard
A- C- D A+ A B
Oh baby! Any decent GM could build a Championship level squad with a monster like Dwight. He is just about to hit his prime, and most big men only play better between their 25-28 Years. 27.1 PPG/14.2 RPG/3.8 BPG. Wow, no one has put those kinds of numbers up since Shaq. How does a team guard both Dwight and Dirk? Dwight is the ultimate match up nightmare. There is nothing else to say about Dwight other than offer a trade for Dwight because everyone would be in line to capture the best big man in the league.
1. SF LeBron James
A- A- B+ A- B+ C
The greatest to ever play? Lebron can literally do it all and he is still only 26. There is no doubt of the amount of records Lebron will break when he is done in the BBS. There is a reason why Dallas is 24-7. The Mavs have been stock piling Forwards for a while now as they have Beasley who will have to resort to being the best offensive Power Forward now. Back with Lebron, he is just such a tremendous player with his size and athleticism. He is stronger than the most centers and is faster than most point guards but has more skill than anyone to ever enter into the league. There is no reason he should ask for the bank in three seasons when he is up for free agency and with the Maverics having to pay Beasley similar to what Lebron is making now and another young stud in Lawal, Mark Cuban may not even have enough to please Lebron.
PG Derrick Rose
SG Kevin Durant
SF Lebron James
PF Greg Oden
C Dwight Howard
That would be one nasty team.
Honorable Mentions (in no specific order):
[C LeMarcus Aldridge, PG Ricky Rubio, PF Josh Smith, PG Tony Parker, SF Michael Beasley, SF Demar DeRozan]
