Competition in Sim Leagues

I was bored yesterday, and I confirmed what we all already know. BBS2000 is the best and most competitive sim league out there.
We all know that the activity is amazing, but the competition, I think, is the best we’ve seen. There used to be periods of time when the NBN was my favorite league, for in its prime, it was hard to compare to. However, with my time more limited than in the past, BBS is now my one and only league.
The other league I had been apart of for an extended period time was SLOR (Sim League One Retro), a league I founded about 2 years ago. Before SLOR was SLOX, a league in the same community that folded at year 2017 after starting in 2003. I’d say in its prime it was just under the likes of BBS/NBN.
Anyway, yesterday I went back and looked at my records from all of these leagues. My studies confirmed what I thought: My worst record, by far, was in BBS.
Although there are a ton of variables, I think it ultimately comes down to competition. I trade a lot in every league, and in every league I make a bunch of good and a bunch of bad trades. Yet, BBS is the only league that holds me accountable.
Here’s what my research showed:
SLOR:
Team: Warriors
Career Record: 462-298
Highest Seed: # 1
Years In Playoffs: 8/10
Playoff Success: 2 time Western Conference Champion, 42-40 career playoff record
Best Season: 61-21
Best Team:
C-Ben Wallace—B D- D- A A D
PF-Dirk Nowitzki—B- B C A- B+ C
SF-Peja Stojakovic—B A+ C B C C
SG: Ray Allen—A- A B- A- C C
PG: Steve Nash—B- A A+ C+ C- C—MVP
Analysis: Consistent success even though team changed every year. Lost in 7 twice in the finals. The above team was sick. Obviously the ratings across the league are unrealistic.
NBN II:
Team: Knicks
Career Record: 444-337
Highest Seed: # 1
Playoffs: 9/10
Playoff Success: Virtually none, .500 record in playoffs
Best Season: 60-22
Best Team:
C: Ademilton Dos Santos (7-11)—B D- D- A- B+ D_
PF: Perry Fairrow—B+ A C A B C
SF: Reid Tellinghuisen—A- A- B+ A- C C
SG: Andriy Lebenditsev—B-A A+ A- C- C
PG: Bryce Irlbeck—C A- B- A- C C
Analysis: The above team may have been the best team I’ve ever had in a competitive league. We had won 15 in a row going into the playoffs but Irlbeck got hurt and we lost in the first round.
BBS 2:
Team: Nets/Hawks
Career Record: Unknown (223-129 before team direction board was stopped)
Highest Seed: # 2
Playoffs: 5/8
Playoff Success: Division champs a couple of times
Best Season: 55-27, twice
Best Team:
C: Yao Ming—B C C- A A- C
PF: Andrew Bogut--B+ C- B- B- B+ C
SF: Jason Richardson--B+ A C+ B C C
SG: Luke Walton--B A- A B C+ D
PG: Smush Parker—C+ A A A- C- D
Analysis: Can’t remember my team exactly, but I had 3 straight very good years running outside. Walton was sick.
BBS 2000:
Team: Hawks
Career Record: 355-373
Playoffs: 4/9
Playoff Success: Not much, had more success than my less talented, defensive team than with my most talented team.
Best Season: 55-27
Best Team:
C: Marcus Camby—B C- C- A- A- C
PF: Antonio Mcdyess—A- C C B B- C
SF: Chris Webber—A- C C+ B B+ C
SG: Allen Iverson—A- B B- A- C C
PG: Mike Bibby—C A- A B C- C
Analysis: In terms of talent, the above team was by far the best. However, I could never get a good DC together and we only won 52 games. My team of Kidd/Wade/Battier/West/Camby was the most successful. I had the same DC the whole season basically and we won 55 games, losing to New York in 7 in the playoffs., the future champions.
So yea, may have just wasted all of your times. However, I get an RC and I thought it was interesting to look back at all of my former teams. BBS is the only league where I have ever been under .500 (.487), with my career record being 1484-1157 (.563)
