Spence said he would allow you to add 1 bird year to a guy with a 3 year contract....so probaly just extend one guy

Really? Nice, I think it's a good idea, cuz a lot of us didn't know 5th was the last round with 3+ years.

It seems kind of unrealistic that the average team will only have 3 players with bird years.
In other words, that's only 3 out of 15 players that the team will be able to keep.
Imagine if the team you support in real life could only keep three of its players. That would kind of suck in my opinion.

Will with the expansion draft the best 90 players in the league won't be FAs for 3 years. Do we really want to raise that to the best 120 players are not going to be FAs for 3 years?

I don't mind when the players expire. It'd just be nice for the team to at least have a chance of re-signing them.
Maybe we could add a Bird Year to these players without adding an extra year to their contract?
That way, the FA pool will still be fairly decent in a few years, but teams will still stand a chance of re-signing their players.
