Western Conference
Grizzlies vs. Lakers
The Grizzlies JUST barely got in due to a complete collapse by the Houston Rockets who went 3-7 in the last 10 games even after acquiring big name players at the trade deadline. The Grizzlies may be enjoying themselves but not for long. The Lakers will sweep the James Harden lead Grizzlies due to their lack in the front court.
Lakers Win
Jazz vs. Mavericks
The Utah Jazz are finishing off very hot and might have the momentum leaning for them to pull off an upset. Even with Utah supporting arguably the best back court in basketball with Rose and Pierce, they will suffer a first round exit. It could be a very close series and Luthur Head will probably not be able to answer Derrick Rose and his penetration but because of the star power, Lebron and Beasley will win in 6 games.
Mavericks Win
Portland vs. San Antonio
With young star Thaddeus Young rising, it has turned Portland to a dynamic team. Thaddeus Young has turned himself into the leader of the team but has been the beneficiary of Monta Ellis who is arguably the best PG in the league. The acquisition of Kobe has helped the Spurs and even though they are a tremendous team in their own right, they will lose as Joe Johnson will take advantage of his size advantage against the smaller San Antonio Guards. Portland will win in 5.
Trailblazers Win
Clippers vs. Nuggets
Why the hell did Spencer give away Arthur Johnson for 2nd Round Picks? Ugh, anyways. This match up seems to be a fun one. Both teams are offenses that focus in the post. The true match up is going to be Brand vs. Howard. We feel that Howard will have a more dominating performance in this series and a bigger impact. Howard is considered the top defensive big man in the league only behind Josh Smith and a defensive big man will be crucial against a post oriented offense in the Clippers. Regardless, the Clippers are very deep in the guard position and are a roster full of veterans. This will be a fun series to see, however the Nuggets will come out victors in 7 games.
