Although in the first two years the title has split between the East and the
West with the Kings and Sixers winning titles in the first two seasons of
the league but many would claim the power of the league has been
in the East. Today there might have been a shift of power giving the
edge to the West.
The Utah Jazz have been busy changing their tune by acquiring league
MVP Shaq daddy diesel in exchange for their past two first round draft
selections Gilbert Arenas and Gerald Wallace. Perhaps largely overlooked
in the deal is the fact the Jazz managed to get Glenn Robinson as well
who still has some gas left in the tank.
With the Jazz acquiring Marcus Camby and Antonio Mcdyess from the
Bulls they now become perhaps instant title favorites with the the biggest
front line in the league. In addition to the Jazz becoming so much better
it also destructed two teams in the East who were power houses.
The Bulls have been unloading left and right sending Jerry Stackhouse
and Shareef Abdule Rahim packing in deals today too. Stackhouse will
remain in the central going to the Pistons and Shareef is heading to the
midwest to play for the Mavericks.
The Jazz weren't the only team out west improving tremendously the
Phoenix Suns have also made a few moves to be title contenders
themselves. The Suns acquired premier PG talent Stephon Marbury and
landed a top 5 player in the league Chris Webber to surround sharp
shooting Rip Hamilton.
The West is shaping up to give the East a run for their money in being the
more dominant conference in BBS after being deemed the weaker of the
two. Western GMs may be 3 hrs behind but they are jumping ahead.
