In BBS 2 we had a good idea with who was at what level with their managerial status. Is it the same though in BBS 3? Here is my personal look at GM's that have gone up down and stayed the same so far through the BBS 3 campaign and what to look out for in the future. Note NBN dudes are not part of this article due to they are new.
STOCK RISERS
There really have been few who I feel whose stock has risen highly and just about no one has made a dramatic change for the better so far in my opinion. However there are guys on the uprise who I feel like have been doing better in their managerial duties then in the previous BBS on a minimal basis. One of those GM's is Mark of the New Jersey Nets. Now don't get me wrong I don't think he was at all bad during his stint with Utah but I believe that he a little bit of a better job in New Jersey then he did in Utah. Mark likes to somewhat stray away from the big blockbusters and focus on smaller deals that help him win more games. I feel that so far that this has been working for him so far in the BBS 3 tenure as he has developed quite a nice team. Another GM that has his stock rising is Scott GM of the Sacramento Kings. Scott had spotty activity in BBS 2 and IMO has moved back to his glory days as a fine GM we knew him as in BBS 1. Scott has already won one BBS championship and his pick-up in activity I believe was a catalyst in his surge to the top. I expect big things from Scott in the future. This GM will come as a shock to some GM's as a "Stock Riser" but I have come to the conclusion that Christian Martinez GM of the Memphis Grizzlies has done better so far in his managerial duties in BBS 3 in comparison to BBS 2. My reasoning behind this is that Martinez has been relatively quiet on the trade scene in BBS 3 and isn't making huge trades that blow up his team dynamic, an aspect known from him in the previous BBS. Is Martinez sitting patiently waiting for his chance to explode back onto the trade scene and when he does will he be making bonehead trades still? Will sitting on his team like he has been bring new found success? Only time can tell but for now his stock has risen since the last BBS.
Stock Droppers
As the stock risers there isn't anyone IMO who has plummeted to far but there are some guys that have been slipping. The most notable guy who has taken the deepest dive (although not too deep) is Galo GM of the Los Angeles Clippers. Galo trades his picks in the first few years, a move which signals a run at trying to win, and this is the last we hear of him on the trade circuit. Galo barely made the playoffs in the first few years and hasn't been on the prowl to make his team better like some GM's. Like previously mentioned it isn't a huge dive but one would expect that a GM would be actively pursuing trades to make his team stronger without his picks. It seemed to me that Galo seemed content on just making the playoffs. Other people whose stock has dropped are Reilly GM of the Detroit Pistons and Wilson Outlawz Esquire VI of the New York Knicks. Now both these GM's in my mind are still the strongest in the league and made this list solely of my expectations for them. The fact that half the league is afraid to trade with Reilly really is hurting him IMO. Reilly's ability to reason and deal with people is his bread and butter and when you deprive him of that it is equivalent of depriving a person of water, your just not gonna function the same. He is still building strong teams but GM's just don't fear the Pistons when they play them like they use to. Outlawz is another case where I feel like where half the league is fearing to trade with him. Outlawz and Reilly took different approaches when they came into the league so their cases are different. The reason that Outlawz is on this list is because I feel like Outlawz going into his Contract Year is going to be a question mark to win 40 with his current personnel. I wouldn't hit the panic button yet as there is this years draft, a huge FA coming up and a whole lot of time but like with Reilly I feel we expect more coming out of a GM like Outlawz and so far he hasn't delivered. I believe however that when all is said is done that both of these GM's will both get a couple championships and have the teams we feared from the past once again.
