1. Chicago Bulls - LeBron James SG - With no player to build around on their current roster, no team needs LeBron like the Bulls need LeBron. LBJ will come in and make the Bulls a legit 40 win, verge of the playoff team even as a rookie. He will be a special player.
2. Philadelphia 76ers - Carmelo Anthony SF - The Sixers get another 25+ point per game guy in Carmelo Anthony. Anthony and Gilbert Arenas should get 50-60 points a night even in 2003. Now if the Sixers can just get some interior defenders and some rebounders.
3. Atlanta Hawks - Chris Bosh PF - The Hawks need a franchise guy and they should get it in Chris Bosh. Bosh is a 20-25 point a game guy who can get 10 boards and play solid defense. Bosh an Andrei Kirilenko should be a very nice forward combo for the next decade.
4. New York Knicks - Josh Howard SF - Josh Howard should be a perfect #2 scorer behind Dwyane Wade. Howard is a guy that can not only put up 20 points a night, but he should also be a very good rebounder and defender. The Knicks big 3 of Wade, Howard and Tyson Chandler is about as balanced as you can get.
5. Cleveland Cavaliers - Kirk Hinrich PG - The Cavaliers backcourt is a mess, and the first step towards fixing that is drafting Kirk Hinrich. The best point guard in this draft, Hinrich should be a 15-8 guy even as a rookie.
6. Dallas Mavericks - Chris Kaman C - The Mavs would like to move Amare Stoudemire to PF and drafting Chris Kaman will make that move easier. Kaman is a very good scorer and rebounder who could be a double double guy as a rookie. This move also pushes Udonis Haslem to the bench and gives the Mavs one of the better young big man rotations in the league.
7. Houston Rockets - David West PF - The Rockets desperately need a big defensive presence down low. Unfortunately they wont find it in this draft. Instead they go for offense and rebounding in David West. west can play 3 or 4 and should be an 18-8 guy within 3 years.
8. New Orleans Hornets - T.J. Ford PG - The Hornets need a point guard that can get the ball to Rashard Lewis and Shawn Marion and T.J. Ford is a good fit. Ford is more of a pass first point but he can get to the hole with his amazing quickness. Ford could develop into an 8 assist a night player.
9. New York Knicks (from Orlando Magic) - Darko Milicic PF - The Knicks would love to get another big man to fill out their frontcourt here. Ideally they'd get a post scorer to give them a better inside -outside duo, instead they grab a solid rebounder and defender in Darko Milicic. Milicic should get 10 boards and 1-2 blocks a game eventually. Just don't expect him to be much of a scorer.
10. Minnesota Timberwolves - Boris Diaw SF - The Wolves need a big defensive PF and C, but at this point they cant pass on Boris Diaw. Diaw is a multi talented SF that can play 1-4. Although not a great scorer, his ball handling and rebounding should give him plenty of minutes off the bench.
11. Los Angeles Clippers - Leandro Barbosa PG - The Clippers need defense, but they cant pass on a super scorer like Barbosa. Barbosa can either backup Steve Nash, or slide over to shooting guard.
12. New Orleans Hornets (from Memphis Grizzlies) - Nick Collison PF - The Hornets would like to add another starter in this draft and might just accomplish that here with Nick Collison. Collison isn't the defender the Hornets would like at PF, but he is a solid rebounder and decent scorer. Ford-Lewis-Marion-Collison is a nice foundation for the future.
13. Seattle Supersonics - Jose Calderon PG - The Sonics have gone from being an outside shooting team to more of a balanced offensive squad. To that end, a point guard like Jose Calderon should fit perfectly. Calderon is a steady hand who makes the right decision and is a solid shooter.
14. Indiana Pacers - Marquis Daniels SG - The Pacers need some immediate help for Yao Ming so they take a more polished older player in Marquis Daniels. Daniels can play 2 and 3, and even a little 1. A solid ball handler and scorer he should be a nice 3rd option for the Pacers.
15. Houston Rockets (from Detroit Pistons) - Luke Ridnour PG - The Rockets want to build from the bottom up, and need almost everything. While Luke Ridnour isnt the best prospect around, he's got solid intangibles and the Rockets have a big hole at point guard. One of his strength is outside shooting, so he should fit right in with Juan Dixon and Eddie House.
16. Golden State Warriors - Maurice Williams PG - The Warriors have a good amount of depth, but they lack a true point guard. Although Williams isnt gonna be an 8 or 10 assist guy, he could help share the ball handling duties with Joe Johnson. Williams also looks to be a pretty good offensive player as well.
17. Toronto Raptors - Mike Dunleavy SG - The Raps take a chance on an underdeveloped talented player in Mike Dunleavy. A very good shooter and ball handler, Dunleavy is a weak defender who needs to gain strength.
18. Cleveland Cavaliers (from Phoenix Suns) - Mickael Pietrus SG - The Cavs need to continue to revamp their backcourt. Pietrus probably wont be anything more then an average offensive player, but his defense could get him into the starting lineup.
19. Denver Nuggets - Steve Blake PG - The Nuggets need some depth and a little more scoring punch. They get both here in Steve Blake. Not a good defender, Blake is a savvy ball handler and excellent shooter. He will be a perfect backup for Jason Williams.
20. Toronto Raptors (fromSacramento Kings) - Kendrick Perkins C - Raps take another risk here with Perkins. Perkins has requisite size and length, but he is very raw and a little soft. Perkins should be a solid backup worse case, and a solid starter best case.
