The Hot Seat featuring Krup Welcome Ladies and Gentleman to the hot seat. Today we are joined by BBS loud mouth and GM of the Mavericks, KrubanLet's talk about your team first. You won the Lebron lottery and a sure fire top 5 player in a couple of seasons. What plans do you have for your team now? Do you plan on being a playoff team?Yes, I won the Lebron lotto and I'm so excited. We definitely think he is going to be a one of the best if not thee best player in the league. The plan from day 1 was to draft guys that I could win now and deal a year later. We knew there would be a few guys building from scratch day 1 and we didn't want to be in a situation where we would have to compete with a few teams to face the contract season. So we won dealt our guys and I gave myself the ultimate motivator to win by this season. Trading our first to Martinez and the Memphis Grizzlies. We've shown some of our plans already on our quest to make the playoffs by adding Steve Nash with the Clippers pick and we really want to run an uptempo style offense with our personnel. We're not done yet. Expect big things. TC was just simmed. Were there any deals you wish you would have done or guys you wish you would have drafted with some of the results across the league? What players stood out for you?Well making trades before TC is always tough because you want to acquire guys who are going to blow up, deal guys who you think might decline, and not deal guys who could increase their value through TC. I was in a position where I felt it best to wait til after TC considering my youth not having a player over the age of 25 on my roster. I think some of the most notable guys in TC had to be Paul Pierce. I think Paul Pierce is one of the best 5 players in the league. Richard Jefferson and Ron Artest have to get honorable mention for positive TC's. Of course there are the guys who decline over TC and Earl Boykins and Eddy Curry have to be the worst for me. The contract year has been a hot topic this season. Hornets, Knicks, and Pacers have all made moves to avoid being fired. Were they good or bad moves? Do any of em get fired? Do you see anyone in the future possibly getting fired because of the contract year? You got to love what the Hornets and Knicks did this offseason as they surrounded themselves with proven winners. Hornets anted up for Zo stealing him away from the Rockets who were poised to land the big fella. Knicks acquired Stephon Marbury and Mashburn. They both acquired very good players 1-5 and solidified their benches. On the other hand Nova didn't use all of his cap preventing him from using his MLE and LLE. He locked up Jerry Stackhouse long term and used 75% of his cap space doing so instead of spreading out his money for more impact players. I thought he did a very poor job but I'm not surprised because its Nova the 15yr old know it all. I think he will get fired and I'm actually rooting for it. There is plenty of room on the fire Nova bandwagon so don't be afraid to hop on and scream syanara nova. Nets and Heat seem to be the favorites but people forget the Jazz still have Shaq. Besides those 3 teams do you see anyone else competing for the championship? There are a few teams that could contend for a title this season. I think the two favorites could be the Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs but they are less active than bingo tournament at your local senior citizen home so they have NO CHANCE at winning a title. I think Ducky is a piece away from being a serious contender but I don't know if he is focused enough to realize with him being the man in 57.5 other sim leagues. Basically anything is possible but you have to work for it and that was shown by eboner last season and I take my hat off to him for hustling to get his team in order and keeping it in tact. Great Job. This version of BBS has upgraded it's gm talent level. Ten seasons into the league who will have the most rings and who will be the 3 teams with the worst winning percentages?Get your popcorn ready because you'll be seeing me in the finals a whole lot. I think the Knicks, Heat, Nets, and Mavs all near the top of the league every year. I think its very safe to say that the Grizz, Blazers, and Magic will be the worst teams in the league. The Magic and Blazers have a better shot of not being bottom 3 because they'll combine their teams every other season swapping picks 8 years in advance for their best player and swap back the following year only prolonging the inevitable suckness of their franchises. Where do you rank yourself. 1 to 29 as a gmI'm definitely #1 in my eyes and if I thought any less I'd be a loser. I respect other GMs but I work harder, prepare better, and I always get the max production out of my players. I think I RC guys in place that help them develop to the best players they can be. I make trades to make other trades and I'm always looking ahead. I play chess while others play checkers. The best GM always doesn't have the best team every year but I think great GMs set up dynasties and win over extended amount of seasons and my track record reflects this. You have been known to fight with a lot of guys. Name 5 guys that you just dont like and name your reasons.1. DJ- Public enemy #1 he is a weird asian canadian who looks at cartoon pornography. I wouldn't be surprised if he touches little boys in his free time. He is the ultimate tanker and the only time he's imed me was when I first got into the league to try and rip me off because 95% of his trades come from new GMs. 2. Martinez- He has little man syndrome compounded with the fiery spanish attitude compounded with an overall lack on intelligence makes him almost impossible to deal with. I think if Martinez would be a little nicer at times people would be much more receptive towards him. 3. Haberman- He comes across very snobbish at times and its annoying how he only posts wtih his posse. He has been less annoying lately and I don't hate him but sometimes I don't like him. 4. Nova- Recently hopped onto my list with his annoying comments. He would post daily on sim threads like ooops I lost again, shucks I lost today, and other stupid comments like he was rubbing it into our faces he was going to have a top 5 pick. Now he has some balls(somewhere last seen in his stomach) to make some comments and call people out in threads. Great job putting your team together! 5. DJ- I really hate him so much so he reappears for the 2nd time on the list because he is just so gay. Who runs inside focus when they have no post presence? Both his interior starters are C+ inside scorers? Tell me he doesn't try and tank....try and tell me. Martinez recently mentioned he would love to go at it with you. How do you feel about that?Martinez is a little bandito that I would smash like a pinata. He talks a big game but never lives up to the words he speaks. He talked so much crap when we were in the same division but he was always at the bottom as he could never compete with the big boys. He always ruins his future by acquiring bad contracts and aging vets while sacrificing his future. He quit last BBS because his team was so bad and he would have entered his contract year and undoubtably gotten fired. Now I asked him to wager his first this year for mine and he wouldn't even acknowledge the bet and then after I called him out time after time he made a bet saying whoever didn't make the playoffs would have to quit the league forever I accepted immediately. This is a fine example of how Martinez makes bad moves and poor decisions stacking his team against mine. I know you hung out with the ct boys. Any embarrassing stories you would like to share? Photos possibly? Who gets the least ass out of all of em?I don't really have any embarassing stories from anyone except for Jeremy but he isn't in the league anymore. I met the CT boys at in New Canaan their hometown with Jeremy while we were working for ESPN radio and were on a road assignment. We had a great time calling up girls Jeremy met on the internet asking very obscene and improper questions while we sat in starbucks. This is how Jeremy got the nickname J-Lavalife dot com. Who gets the least ass? Well Mark and Aaron both have girls friends which leaves Pig and Basone. I'm going to have to guess Basone because girls will think of him like the cute little brother they never had and we all know Pig was an allstar football and basketball player for NC high school so he was definitely getting some.

Golf was actually my best sport. I was getting D1 interest until I had a complete meltdown and lost the power that I had. Didn't play too much in football my Senior year partially because I joined 4 games into the season. I would of started if I had shown up when I was supposed too. Basketball I played alot first half of my junior year and then all of the sudden my minutes went down the drain. The players behind me got better then me but not untill I quit senior year. My AD despised me and I think he politicked against me, due to some things I figured out. Looking back at high school I would say I was arguably the biggest athlete that never lived up to his potential. I kick myself in the ass everyday because of it.

Yeah I can see your point but the difference between me and him was that he lost the heart to do it. I always had the heart, I think there was little to few guys who practiced as hard as I did and I none of my coaches with the exception of Bill had any faith in me.

Yeah right now I'd agree that the teams that are in the best shape overall for the next 5-10 years or so include us, the Nets, Knicks, and the Mavs.

Krup, since your so smart, who do you think I should have signed in FA instead of Stack?
I've already said I didn't get a chance to send bids for Days 4-5, and that it is my fault.
I've also never claimed to be a know-it-all, unlike yourself.
Anyways, good read nonetheless.

Krup, since your so smart ![8-)](http://forums.lakersground.net/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) Vin Baker! Perfect option scorer can play the 3/4 would have worked perfect on your team to run an inside focus. I would have been all over Sam Cassell so I didn't have to pay a first for Chucky Atkins. I would have picked up Aaron Williams, Pollard, Junk yard, K-Mart, or one of the many other big men with my MLE. Could have gotten all these guys for the same amount of cap you had in addition to not being locked up long term like you are with Stackhouse. You signed stackhouse on day 1....who's fault is it that you didn't get anyone after that?

I did offer for Cassell, I just didn't get him. 3. As I've already stated, FA Days 4-5 were simmed before I had the chance to send bids, so I didn't get to use all my cap room and my MLE. 4. It might just be me, but I'd rather have a 20-25ppg player then 3-4 decent players who might/might not be able to be solid starters. 5. You were asking a 1st for Mike James. I don't see how Atkins isn't better then James. His ratings are better, his contract is far better(3 years 6 mill compared to expiring), and he's only a year older.

Vin Baker has averaged over 20ppg last 2 seasons on ridiculous percentages.....he's legit. You could have ran West 3,4,5 and had a nasty inside focus offense. Did you offer a 1 yr max for Cassell day 1? I doubt it. If you really wanted him then you should have known thats what it would take.
Of course I was seeking a first for James from you. Correct me if I'm wrong you did give up 3 firsts for Pyrz why wouldn't I come to you looking for a first?

No, I didn't 1 year max Cassell Day 1, because again, I would rather get Stackhouse who is far superior to Cassell. I'm not blaming you asking me for a pick for James, but I find it funny that you mock me getting Atkins for a pick, when he's better then James.

West has worked out so I can't totally kill you and I forget all of the SG who were on the FA market but point is there were plenty of 1 year wonders out there. Now you're stuck with Stackhouse for life. Also for the record I was really high on West before the draft and I openly stated to a lot of people I would have considered taking him #4.
I would have mocked you for giving a first for Mike James too.....I keep it fair.

I have to re-sign Big Ben this offseason so I won't have much cap, if any, and I wanted to bring in a guy long-term. Stack's D is mediocre, but his offense is excellent, and after Hamilton, he was my primary target in FA. As for the Atkins/James thing, I needed a PG, I didn't want an expiring one because I didn't want to have to re-sign two starters this offseason, and I didn't want to give up anything huge. I got Atkins who is signed dirt cheap for 3 years and has solid ratings. He's not great, but he was the best out there at this point for what I was willing to give.

Thats a fair point about using your cap long term but you could always resign those guys for up to 120% of their previous contract and keep them. Your team is playing well better than I would have expected. You got lucky as hell with Grizzard actually being to play
