1.Milwaukee Bucks- Dwight Howard PF 6'11'' 245 18 B- D+ D+ B- B A
By far the best prospect in the draft, Howard will be the 1st pick in the draft regardless of what team has it. He will be an allstar for most of his career and a perennial MVP candidate. He is the type of player that makes you a title contender every season. Whatever team ends up with Howard will have one of the best frontcourts in the league for the next decade. Howard has been a force in both of the last two BBS, there is no reason he won’t be in this one. This guy is going to be amazing. The Bucks get lucky by landing him in this mock, but the worst record never wins the lotto. Look for things to get shaken during the lotto.
2.Milwaukee Bucks (from Minnesota)- Deron Williams PG 6'3'' 210 19 B- B- B B- C A
Deron is on a different level than the rest of the guards in this draft. He has the makings of being one of the top 5 PGs in this league for most of his career. He can even possibly win a MVP since FBB favors PGs so much. All of this along with an amazing skill set makes Deron the clear cut second selection the draft. The Bucks get a starting PG from day one with this selection. Pairing Williams along with Howard will give the Bucks one of the best duos in the league for a very long time. The Bucks could compete for a playoff spot next year with these two alone.
3.Los Angeles Clippers- Josh Smith PF 6'9'' 225 18 B- C- C- B C+ A
After Williams and Howard, the talent is mostly on the same level for the next several picks. This pick will go mostly on team preference. Galo has already made it apparent he likes Josh Smith. In the last version of BBS, Smith was an amazing player. That along with these ratings gives him a good chance at going third. The thought of Smith teamed up with Darko in the last BBS is scary. It has a very good chance of happening in this version.
4.Orlando Magic- Emeka Okafor C 6'10'' 255 21 B- C- C- B+ B B
Okafor is the safest pick after the top two in this draft. He is already a starting big man on most rosters and will only get better. Looking at Aaron’s player ratings from last night, this pick should be Shaun Livingston. However, Jose Calderon is already in Orlando which leaves no room for Livingston. Emeka gives the Magic an instant inside presence that should turn into one of the best low post defenders and rebounders. A possible pairing of him and Shaq gives the Magic one of the best frontcourts in the league. An addition of a couple of wings and depth could make the Magic very tough team come the playoffs next season.
5.Houston Rockets- Shaun Livingston PG 6'7'' 180 18 B- C B- B C A
Livingston is the only PG besides Williams that could be an allstar in this draft. He has amazing size for a PG and will be a great defender in this league. He will never be a 20ppg PG, but will be very good at all the other aspects of the game. Livingston is a great fit for Houston. They already have two big men who can score with Bosh and Z. Add Livingston along with those two and Juan Dixon and Tayshaun Prince, the Rockets could have 5 legit scoring threats on the court in their starting lineup. Livingston and Prince will more than make up for Dixon’s defense. This also allows Eddie House to move the bench where he will likely be much more useful.
6.Chicago Bulls- Travis Outlaw SF 6'9'' 210 19 B C C B C+ A
The Bulls can got a lot of directions with this pick. In my opinion, it comes down to either Outlaw or Jefferson. I think that means the pick has to be Travis Outlaw. He could very well end up an all league defender. Outlaw and Josh Howard would give the Bulls one of the best defensive wing sets in the league. This will give the Bulls a lot of options of what to address in free agency and who to draft next season.
7.Philadelphia 76ers- Al Jefferson PF 6'10'' 265 18 B- D+ D+ C+ B A
Jefferson provides the best value at the seventh pick. For a team already with Gilbert Arenas and Kirk Hinrich, best player available is the way to go. Jefferson will be an option type of scorer and a great rebounder. However, he will not be a good defender. Neither Arenas nor Hinrich are likely to ever be good defenders. For that reason, Jefferson may not be a smart pick for the 76ers. I don’t see Maniac passing up a player like Jefferson at this point though.
8.Houston Rockets (from San Antonio)- Andris Biedrins C 6'11'' 240 18 C+ D+ C B- C+ A
The Rockets biggest need at this point is big man depth. Biedrins is exactly that. He is also a long term answer at center once it is time for Z to go. The Rockets will have the luxury of letting Biedrins develop with a lot of young talent already around him. Biedrins should be a center for a long time in his career. He will block shots, play good defense, and score in the low teens every night. He is the perfect pick for the Rockets at this point.
9.Houston Rockets (from Sacramento)- Tony Allen SF 6'4'' 215 21 B- D+ D+ B+ B C
The best player available is Ben Gordon. However, the Rockets already have a player very similar to him in Juan Dixon. There has never been a player like Tony Allen enter BBS which is what makes him so intriguing. He will allow the Rocket to mix up their lineup and change styles at anytime with his defense, rebounding, and lack of an outside shot. Should he be a starter, the Rockets could run an inside focus. If he doesn’t start he can’t play any other position besides SF really and will go to waste.
10.Cleveland Cavaliers- Ben Gordon SG 6'3'' 200 21 C+ A- C+ C+ D+ B
The Cavs are really missing a player with an outside shot. Gordon provides that immediately and will start from day one. The Cavs will have a starting lineup that has an average age under 22 years old and will be a playoff contender for the next few seasons.
11.Phoenix Suns (from Portland)- Kevin Martin SG 6'7'' 185 20 C+ B+ C C+ D+ B
Phoenix is about to start rebuilding again. Chris Kaman will be their center which takes Robert Swift off the board. I don’t see the point in taking a player who nearly maxed out like Nelson when you are just starting to rebuild. Martin could turn into more than just a low option scorer and the Suns. Either way, Martin is a pick that sends the Suns in the right direction.
12.Los Angeles Clippers (from Washington)- Robert Swift C 7'0'' 245 18 C+ C- C- C+ C+ A
Brad Miller is no longer the face of league. He needs replaced badly. Robert Swift should develop into a starting center and help Darko and Josh Smith to the playoffs in a few seasons.
13.Atlanta Hawks- Jameer Nelson PG 6'0'' 190 22 C+ B B C+ C C
The Hawks don’t really have a direction right now. They don’t have enough talent to win, but have too much to be a high pick. One of their biggest holes this season was at PG. Nelson should be at least an average starter for most of his career in BBS. RC attention could shape him into a nice compliment of DWade.
By far the best prospect in the draft, Howard will be the 1st pick in the draft regardless of what team has it. He will be an allstar for most of his career and a perennial MVP candidate.
