Franchise Player: Lebron James- At 18 years old he is already one of the best players in the league with his extremely versatile game he pure athleticism he is going to be a very special player in this league. He has already shown his knack for scoring despite not being a strong outside shooter as of yet. James also enjoys getting his teammates involved by passing when he sees fit but when it comes to crunch time James is the man who is going to take the shot to win the game.
Team Strength: The Mavericks biggest strength would be their ball handling leading the league in fewest turnovers per game being the only team to be under 12 a game this is definitely one of their strongest points and always a focus of a Krupinski ran team. The team's ability to rebound the ball as well enables the Mavericks to maximize their possessions as they don't give it up and get plenty of 2nd chance opportunities getting the 4th most shot attempts per game in the league.
Team Weakness: The Mavericks weakness right now is outside shooting and perimeter defense. The Mavericks struggle shooting beyond the 3pt line which is why coach Krupinski has moved the team to an inside focus to try and keep the team limited to a midrange game. On the other end of the ball their perimeter defense could use some fine tuning. In the beginning of the season the Mavericks were bottom 5 in creating turnovers and coach Krupinski addressed this by pressuring the ball more which has resulted in more steals a game moving them into the middle of the league in this category now however the Mavericks still allow an alarmingly large amount of 3pt attempts that seem to be a higher percentage than normal.
Team Outlook: The Mavericks hope to be a title contender in the West this year despite many people considering them a year or two away from being serious title contenders. With the addition of Grant Hill the Mavericks feel he is a perfect fit for their scheme and should be the #2 option they sorely needed. The Mavericks feel with their efficiency, depth, and ability to rebound the basketball they always have a good chance at winning the game.
Trading Block: Leon Smith a 6 mil expiring center is on the trading block to acquire a better player at the position but the Mavericks are pretty set with their current roster.
