1. Milwaukee Bucks- Dwight Howard PF 6'11'' 245 18 B- D+ D+ B- B A
Howard is the best big man prospect to hit the league thus far. He immediately will give the Bucks a #1 option and hope for the future. If Howard gets three years of weight room attention he will be 7’2. With that size, he could be the best center in the league for a long time.
2. Milwaukee Bucks (from Minnesota)- Deron Williams PG 6'3'' 210 19 B- B- B B- C A
Williams won’t be the best PG in the league at anything, but he will be close to the best in most aspects of his game. He should score at least in the high teens and get close to double digit assists. Williams will be a PG that can win his team playoff games. If the Bucks can add Howard and Williams, they will have the two hardest positions on the court filled with elite talent. The Bucks should be a playoff contender for a long time with just these two players.
3. Los Angeles Clippers- Josh Smith PF 6'9'' 225 18 B- C- C- B C+ A
The third pick will come down to Josh Smith or Al Jefferson. The Clippers selected Jefferson fourth overall in the last bbs and he did not live up to expectations. Darko already has the Clippers PF position filled, and Smith should be as good as or better at SF than he is at PF. Smith should help the Clippers return to the playoffs in a few seasons.
4. Chicago Bulls- Al Jefferson PF 6'10'' 265 18 B- D+ D+ C+ B A
Jefferson could potentially grow into a good starting power forward or center. He will be a great rebounder and low post scorer. The Bulls still need a lot of work before they become a playoff contender again. Jefferson will help put them in the right direction.
5. Orlando Magic- Emeka Okafor C 6'10'' 255 21 B- C- C- B+ B B
Okafor will be a great big man to help out a contending team for a long time. If the Magic can work out a trade for Shaq, Okafor will help the Magic be a force come playoff time. Should Okafor develop a better post game, he will be an elite big man.
6. Houston Rockets-Shaun Livingston PG 6'7'' 180 18 B- C B- B C A
The Rockets are filled with youth. However, they have no one who resembles a true point guard on their roster. Livingston will bring some greatly needed defense and ball handling for a team set to contend for the playoffs.
7. Philadelphia 76ers- Travis Outlaw SF 6'9'' 210 19 B C C B C+ A
Hinrich and Arenas will hold down the 76ers backcourt for a long time. Outlaw should provide a long term solution at SF. He will be a great defender, good rebounding SF, and be the second scoring option the 76ers will desperately need when it comes time to contend. The 76ers will be a tough team with these three players for a long time.
8. Houston Rockets (from Sacramento)- Andris Biedrins C 6'11'' 240 18 C+ D+ C B- C+ A
The Rockets already have a very talented starting lineup before this pick. The teams biggest need would be a third big man. Biedrins may not be ready to contribute in that role right away, but he could be a starter on most teams in a couple of seasons. He also has the best value at this point in the draft.
9. Cleveland Cavaliers- Ben Gordon SG 6'3'' 200 21 C+ A- C+ C+ D+ B
Gordon may not be a good fit beside TJ Ford because of size, but he is the best player at this point in the draft. He will give the Cavs their only three point shooting option. With the right RC attention, Gordon will be a good combo guard. However, the Cavs are going to need more talent on this roster to ever be a true contender.
10. Los Angeles Clippers (from Washington)- Kevin Martin SG 6'7'' 185 20 C+ B+ C C+ D+ B
Martin should come in and fill help the Clippers immediately. Martin-Smith-Darko will be enough to make the playoffs in the future. The Clippers will also add another high draft pick next year to this young core.
11. Houston Rockets (from San Antonio)- Tony Allen SF 6'4'' 215 21 B- D+ D+ B+ B C
The Rockets don’t really need this pick. If they decide to use it, Allen makes the most sense. Z-Biedrins-Bosh-Allen-Livingston will be a team that could be tough to stop with an inside scoring focus once everyone improves.
12. Phoenix Suns (from Portland)- Anderson Varejao PF 6'10'' 230 21 B- D+ D+ B- B- B
The Suns weren’t expected to be a playoffs team this year, but the acquisition of Rashard Lewis made them one. They aren’t ever going to be a championship contender with their current players, but adding another legit big in Varejao can’t hurt. He could also be a building block with Kaman should the Suns decide to rebuild.
13. Atlanta Hawks- Devin Harris PG 6'3'' 185 21 B- C+ C+ B- C B
The talent is starting to get thin by this pick. The Hawks don’t have anything to build around beside Dwayne Wade. Therefore, they can go in any direction with this pick. Harris is a very balanced PG who could play a number of roles in the future for the Hawks in the future.
14. Memphis Grizzlies- Robert Swift C 7'0'' 245 18 C+ C- C- C+ C+ A
The Grizzlies don’t have any legit big men. They also don’t have much of a future. Swift is a few seasons away from being a contributor, but he could end up being a good big.
15. Los Angeles Lakers- Jameer Nelson PG 6'0'' 190 22 C+ B B C+ C C
The Lakers have been in need of a PG since Boykins left in FA two seasons ago. Nelson provides a potential upgrade for the team’s biggest need.
16. Chicago Bulls (from Phoenix)- J.R. Smith SG 6'6'' 220 18 C+ B+ C- C C B
Smith is a steal at this pick. He could go as high as the eleventh pick in this draft. He provides the Bulls with a starting wing that won’t hurt they tanking efforts next season.
17. Los Angeles Clippers (from Denver)- Delonte West PG 6'4'' 180 21 C B B- C D+ B
West will be an average PG in the long run. He will be good enough for the current Clippers talent to get to the playoffs with in the future. If they can find a replacement he could end up as a good bench player.
18. Memphis Grizzlies (from Dallas)- Kris Humphries PF 6'9'' 235 19 C+ C C C+ C+ B
Humphries is another big man that may help the Grizzlies out in the future. He should at least be in a rotation later on in his career.
19. Boston Celtics- Sebastian Telfair PG 6'0'' 165 19 C+ C B+ C C B
Telfair could develop into a future starter for the Celtics. He will provide them with depth for the time being.
20. Toronto Raptors- Trevor Ariza SF 6'8'' 200 18 B- C- C- B C+ B
The Raptors are winning with two great players. Ariza could provide them with a third scoring option and start at SF from day one.
Howard is the best big man prospect to hit the league thus far. He immediately will give the Bucks a #1 option and hope for the future. If Howard gets three years of weight room attention he will be 7’2. With that size, he could be the best center in the league for a long time.
