What the 2003 Free Agency period lacked in a true superstar, the 2004 list of players is exactly the opposite. With a slew of guys looking to command the maximum, teams with cap space are chomping at the bit to add one of the franchise changers available for a little bit of cash. Without any further ado, lets break down perhaps the most talented FA crop seen in sim leagues to this day.
Center
Shaquille O'Neal C 7'1'' 325 32 A D+ C A A C
There seems to be a simple rule that applies to BBS as a league thus far; if Shaq is on your team, you're going to do serious damage. The Big Aristotle has already led the 76ers to the best record in the league in year one and a title in year two before taking the Jazz to back to back Finals trips, losing only due to Andy's incompetence and Mexican heritage. At 32, there is no doubt that O'Neal is entering the twilight of his career, but with A's in the big man ratings and some of the best stats in the league at his position, it's difficult to imagine a scenario where someone doesn't decide to give Shaq max money.

Elton Brand PF 6'8'' 260 25 A- C- C A- B+ B
Just when you thought this FA class couldn't get any better, the Golden State Warriors made a move typical of the franchise circa 2004 by forgetting to accept the contract offer of their best player. While their ability to offer Brand more money than any other team will hopefully make this just a little slip up, any team with cap space is going to be throwing a max offer at Brand, without question. The 25 year old could make an argument for being the league's most well rounded PF both ratings and stats wise, boasting great scoring on good percentages, low turnovers, sick rebounding and a steals and blocks game on defense. Pig, the rest of the league thanks you for giving us a shot at this guy.

Kevin Garnett SF 6'11'' 220 28 A B- C+ A A- C
I will go on record saying this - there has never been, and likely will never be a position as stacked in an FA class as the SF position in this years. We've got arguably the best player in the league, three young guys who all look capable of becoming future superstars, and one of the best producing players at the position. Past that, there's a ton of sick role players, including Bruce Bowen and Larry Johnson ... the list speaks for itself. But this man is clearly the prize of the entire class. What can you say about Kevin Garnett? He's a beast. He's only 28. He can probably play every position on the court. And if the name "Wizards" doesn't appear next to him in the Day 1 thread, then the team that does is going to have a drunk manager that night.

Kobe Bryant SG 6'7'' 210 26 A- A- B- B+ C C
The latest out of the Kobe Bryant camp is him taking a liking towards the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise. Apparently, Kobe and Mike Dunleavy Jr. had a nice sitdown meeting over a few glasses of Italian red to talk about the future of the franchise, and Bryant seems excited. Kobe is a lot like Garnett when it comes to a description. He is the best player in the league at his position, he does everything damn well, and he wins games for your team. If the Nets are able to bring him, Baron and Webber back, they'll be looking at establishing a potential dynasty after the weakening of the East following Zo and Deke's retirements.

Baron Davis PG 6'3'' 210 25 B- A- A B C B
Baron's age and potential to improve vault him over J-Kidd and Nash for the number one spot on the list, showing just how crucial this FA period will be to the future of the defending champs. Baron's turnovers are a problem, but the rest of his game easily makes up for them. A fantastic scorer and one of the better passers in the league, Davis is likely just below KG and Kobe on the lists of most GMs. The fact that he appears two times in Spencer's profile doesn't hurt his cause either. Though it does show a lot about Spencer.
