I just got off the phone with BBS.scout.com's Victor Hendrickson to discuss next year's crop of International talent. Hendrickson has scanned the globe for the best talent out there and has all of the insight needed to determine the next big thing.
Flavijus Stankevičius, C, 7'2" 255 lbs.
Expected ratings: B- D+ C+ C+ C A
Hendrickson's Grade: A-
Hendrickson says:
I have very high hopes for Stankevičius after watching him tear it up with Zalgiris of the Euroleague. He has an incredible hook shot, which has become a lost art in today's basketball. However, the best element of his game is how much of an emphasis he puts on involving his teammates. The team ran the offense through him frequently. His defense is improving, but a big concern is his rebounding, which he needs to approach with more passion.
Bruce Riggs, PG, 6'3" 200 lbs.
Expected ratings: C+ B+ B- C+ C B
Hendrickson's Grade: B+
Hendrickson says:
Riggs is as well-rounded and fundamentally sound as they come when it comes to running the point. Riggs takes care of the ball, is a great shooter and really emphasizes the importance of conditioning and practice. Riggs can lift 450 pounds and is tough as nails.
Duck-Young Bak, SF, 6'5" 195 lbs.
Expected ratings: B+ C C C+ C A
Hendrickson's Grade: A+
Hendrickson says:
Bak is the great Korean hope in the world of basketball. He is an explosive and absolutely incredible player. We have been keeping an eye on him since he was an 11 year old kid torching kids nearly twice his age. However, we are hearing rumors that whoever drafts him will have to take a $10 million hit to buy his rights from the North Korean government. Whoever does draft him will not be disappointed. Bak is very quick, puts in a solid effort on defense and has quick hands, but the most prominent feature of his game is how strong he explodes to the basket. His creativity and explosiveness going to the hoop reminds me of Dwyane Wade.
Hendrickson's Overall Thoughts:
This is likely the best International class in BBS history. All three of these prospects should make a significant impact on their respective team. I simply cannot wait to see these guys in action.
