Machata is being called the best thing to come out of Puerto Rico since Carlos Arroyo. With such a smooth game, Machata has impressed scouts in the U.S. and internationally as well. He has been positioning himself to declare this year after dominating the U-19 level and holding his own with some time on the Puerto Rican National Team. A polished game should help him earn a spot somewhere in the lottery.
Strengths: Machata is an outstanding outside shooter for a player of his stature. Anything from 15 feet and out is usually going in. A decent passer and rebounder. Has a great motor. Can get up and down the court. Really thrives on the other end as a help defender.
Weakenesses: Good, but not a great athlete. Could be a lot stronger for a player of his size. Does not have a post up game to consider when being guarded. Needs to develop a better inside game to be a premier PF in the league.
Best Case Scenario: A better rebounding version of Jerome Beasley
Worst Case Scenario: A smaller Angel Garcia
Summary: High lotto. Could be a good fourth or fifth option on a team as a rookie.
