1- Sacramento Kings- Zack Swanson 20 PF West Viriginia A- C+ C C+ C+ A
Zwanson may not be the clear cut number one pick, but he certainly is up there. The Kings need a lot of work. History shows Scott may be lean towards being conservative in his picks, so I rule out Navarro or Daniels if he presumably lands the No. 1 pick. However, Zwanson has very balanced ratings along with a solid inside game which should assure him of at least a top 3 choice.
2- Chicago- Adalberto Navarro 19 SG Spain B B- C+ C- C A
If Zwanson's off the board, it will probably be between Navarro and Ballantyne vying for the second slot. In this scenario, Play takes Navarro simply for value purposes and possibly tries to deal him later. If he stays, Navarro could put up near 20 a game but probably let his opponent score 30 on him at least in his first few years.
3- Dallas- Iarere Ballantyne 18 SG New Zealand B B- C C C- A
Should Martinez lose out on the Spanish persuasion, Ballantyne could go next in the lotto. At 18, he's already defensively a notch up on Navarro and a year younger. He's a very intriguing prospect with alot of room to grow and he will have that oppurtunity to learn with the Mavs.
4- Portland- Jared McGahee 20 SG George Mason B+ C+ C C+ C- A
McGahee should be a nice player for a very long time if his defense improves. With St. Cloud already on the roster, the two can make quite a tandem in Portland. McGahee could end up being the ROY of the year on a rebuilding team like the Blazers.
5- Golden State- Bishop Daniels 21 PG North Carolina C C+ B- A- C- A
Pig's team is aging and has very little pieces to deal with outside of Joe Johnson and Amare Stoudamire. So Pig would add a Bishop to his mix and hope he can guide their roster in the future. Daniels looks pretty promising from the start and looks like he can start from Day 1 in the Bay.
6- Utah (From NO)- Chandler Maloney 20 SG Arkansas C B C+ B C- A
Management has made it clear that they are looking at shooting guards as an area to address and who better than Maloney. He's a very quick option off the dribble and can easily put up double digits in his first season. Some teams may shy away from him though because he is not a prototypical size for a shooting guard at 6'2.
7- LA Lakers- Flavijus Stankevièius 21 C Lithuania B- D+ C+ C+ C A
The Lake show is completely stocked in the backcourt with the likes of Duck-Young Bak, LaQuinton Ross and Tahir Carrington. The Flava should emerge and take hold of the center spot which allows Tony Woods to move to the power forward position. Stankevièius could thrive off his potential if given time to grow in L.A.
8- Boston- Cody Patrick 22 SF North Carolina B- B+ C C+ D+ A
The C's select the best player available and in this case, it might be Patrick. With a very balanced offensive game, Patrick could probably lead his team in scoring by next season. His defense is coming along but his rebounding is atrocious for a small forward. It will definitely need some good RC attention to fix.
9- Cleveland- Ulysses Limon 21 SF Texas B- C- C A B B
The Cavs have to start winning pretty soon and Limon could be a guy to get them started. With a nice grunt work type game, Limon could work his way into the starting line-up as a power forward or small forward. The question is which will be his best spot? For now, Limon seems like he could be the second coming of AK or just another Sven Andersson.
10- Toronto- Sediq King 20 SF Memphis B C B- C C+ A
Based on pure value, King would be their best choice. King has good ratings to start out and contribute right away which make him a viable pick for Boston. Toronto or any other team should definitely consider King at this point.
11- Portland (From ORL)- Frank McPhereson 21 C Georgia B- D C- B- B- A
Portland really needs some bigs and they should get a good one in McPhereson. At only 21, he still has room to grow and improve his game. His rebounding, defense and inside scoring need to be polished but he should be a guy that could possibly average a double double for his entire career.
12- Cleveland (From NJ)- Storm Warren 22 C Florida State C B+ D+ B+ B- B
The Cavs add another big here because simply they need some depth upfront. Warren is already a great shooter for his size and a tremendous passer almost like Renardo Sidney. Can also defense and rebound some. Should turn out to be a decent pro for the Cavs or whoever selects him.
13- San Antonio- Brett Jenkins 21 SF Australia B- C B- C B- A
The Spurs desperately wanted a small forward during the season but fill that need here. Looking very identical to King, who's taken two spots earlier, Jenkins can be another trading chip on the Raps young squard. He has a high ceiling as some scouts have declared and is emerging with his passing and rebounding abilities. A possibility in the top 10 also.
14- Utah (From HOU)- Carlito Cancun 20 PG C+ C+ C+ C+ C+ A
This guy is a complete gamble but it's one that the Jazz can afford to take. Their roster is competely stacked but could potentially add another star or trade bait if Cancun turns out good. This Argentian prospect will make some GM very happy or really sad on draft night.
15- LA Lakers (From MIN)- Joseph Freed 21 PG Duke C- C B+ B C+ B
The Lakers really needed to address their point guard issue this year with Pettri Koponean at the helm most of the year. They get Freed here simply because he's the most ready to come in and play right now. He's Coack K tested which mean he should be able to survive the rigors of playing in Staples Center 41 times a year. Either way, Freed looks like he'll be a nice starter possibly in this league one day.
16- Phoenix Suns- Myles Taylor 20 PG Rutgers C- C B B- C A
Think of Taylor as an insurance policy in case Bradley decides to leave the land of the Suns. At only 20, Taylor is a nice point guard spect out of the Big East. He has nice potential and good court vision for a player this age. Taylor would be a nice pick up for any team near the teens and down.
