Darrion Styles
'Styles being stylish.'
position: Forward
age: 22
height: 6'9
weight: 213lbs
Current Team: Gonzaga
Prospect Grades:
B- B- B- B- B- C
Strengths:
Versatile player. Jack of all trades. Can do a little bit of everything on the hardwood. Smooth athlete with a good frame and solid build. Slick ball handler with good passing skills. Sees the floor well. Has the skills to play point-forward. Crafty at getting into the lane. Ability to finish in traffic. Capable shooter. High release point makes his shot difficult to block. Can guard multiple positions due to size and length. Solid rebounder at his position. His quick hops and long arms come in handy when battling for defensive rebounds. Can be a pesky defender at times. Capable of defending the perimeter and the post. Will create a few turnovers.
Weaknesses:
Shooting mechanics are not text book. Can knock down the trey but is inconsistent. Not a good FT shooter. Good athlete but not a standout. Productive in all areas but doesn't do anything really well. Can be very passive at times. Fills the box score in some games and disappears completely in others. Struggles to hit shots in the clutch. Mental toughness has been questioned. Shows great ability and promise but is inconsistant on the defensive side of things. "Nice guy" but doesn't show a killer instinct on the court.
Notes:
Scouts question how much better he can get. Haven't seen any noticeable improvement or change in his game for some time. Could be due to the system he plays in or just a lack of desire to reach the next level. If the right team drafts him he could reach his full potential. May be destined to be a 6th man or quality utility player.
