1. Boston Celtics - Ricardinho
A- D+ B C+ C- A
A- C- B B C- A
While he did not increase leaps and bounds, Ricardinho was the definite number one pick in the draft, and if he slowly but surely increases his putrid outside shooting, he will be a stud. 2 increases in defense makes him pretty nice too, and an instant starter in Boston.
2. Las Vegas Rebels - Alastair De Groot
B- C- C B+ C+ A
B- C- C A- B- A
Having the number two pick was tough on GM Play. There was no clear cut #2 pick after Ricardinho, but De Groot looks very nice in this spot. Increasing in two of the most important big man attributes, defense and rebounding, he will certainly help Play in his stint out West.
3. Toronto Raptors - Eduardo Bueno
B- B C B+ B- B
B B+ C B+ B B
This class so far has had some very solid depth to it, and the number three pick is no exception. Bueno came out of the draft with a very interesting skillset, and has certainly increased where it matters. For DJ, he may not have a starting role with studs Renardo Sidney and Jack Creamer in the lineup, but I guarantee within a few years this guy will be starting, and he will be good.
4. Dallas Mavericks - Kareem Joffer
B+ D C C+ B- A
B+ D C B B A
Once again, the depth of this class helps out a GM, this time GM Martinez. After losing out on the #1 pick, he is still able to rebound with Joffer, a studly big man who now has the skills to start, alongside the "Three Headed Monster" of Harrison Barnes, Jared McGahee, and Xavier Henry.
5. Atlanta Hawks - FORFEITED
We shed tears for you JB.
6. Portland Trail Blazers - Rob York
C D+ C- B B A
C C- C- B+ B A
Being that Dan is in his CY, this was a crucial pick for him. He opted to go with a big man with notes on his stellar shot blocking and defense. With Dwight Howard and LaMarcus Aldridge occupying his frontcourt, he needed a role player to compliment those two, and York should be just the guy. While the outside shooting isn't meaningless, it is far surpassed by his increase in defense.
7. Phoenix Suns - Ricky Machata
C B+ B C C A
C+ A- B- C+ C- A
Even down at the 7th selection, no busts have been taken yet. Ricky Machata was exactly what GM Blue needed so that he could move Avery Bradley to SG, and hopefully commit less TO's there. He expressed his longing for an increase in handles, but I'm sure he won't complain about the increase everywhere else.
8. Utah Jazz - Taven Whitehorse
B- B C C+ C- A
C+ B C+ C+ C- A
While not being a terrible tradeoff, the decrease in scoring for an increase in handles isn't what Andrew was hoping for here. He specifically added Whitehorse for additional scoring, to compliment both his young players (Knight, Tyler) and his experienced veterans (Brand, Okafor, Chiriaev). Still not a bust though.
9. Memphis Grizzlies - Action Jackson
B- C+ C B+ C B
B- C+ C A- C A
As GM Skillz begins his Western Conference experience, he brings a club that is highly regarded in the league. With studs in Michael Beasley, Matias Nocedal, and Dexter Strickland, he wanted to take a player with sexy defense, and Jackson has delivered.
10. New Orleans Hornets - FORFEITED
RIP Captain, hello Spence and Steve!
11. Washington Wizards - Jordan Metcalf
B D+ D- C+ A- A
B C- D C+ A- C
A controversial pick here at #11, GM JAH was not happy about being auto'd, even though Spencer let him change his mind when he signed on. Maybe he should have changed his mind. Metcalf looks like a rebounding role player at best, and the first real bust of the draft.
12. Las Vegas Rebels - Marcus Bigelow
B C- C C A- B
B+ C- C C A A
This guy may be the steal of the lottery. With the lack of big man depth in BBS, one that can score and rebound as a rookie is very rare. However, "Bam Bam" Bigelow will be a starter in Las Vegas, and should his defense ever come around, a great player as well.
13. Las Vegas Rebels - Lucas Chambers
C+ B+ B- C+ C- B
C+ A- C+ C+ C- C
With the steal of the lottery comes the bust of the lottery. Chambers was a relative unknown, and somewhat of a stretch for Play here at 13, but he took a risk, and unfortunately it backfired. While his scoring did go up, nothing else good came out of this pick. Will be a scoring role player in my opinion.
