Pros: Best shotblocker in the SEC since Jarvis Varnado. Averaged 3.8 bpg in only 19.2 mpg. Incredible anticipation and timing. Very disciplined defender - doesn't leave his feet until he needs to. Has a 7'6" wingspan. Runs the court very well for a guy his size. Very agile. Edwards has 42' inch vertical... despite being a 6'11" PF/C, expect to see him in the dunk contest some time in his career. Exceptional rebounder due to his jumping ability. Scouts are impressed with how quickly he adjusted to the college game.
Cons: Non-existent post game... has no touch around the rim. Offensive game limited to dunks. Has absolutely no post moves, and a lack of strength prohibits him from out-muscling his defenders. Free throw shooting ability reminiscent to that of Josh Boone. Has absolutely awful technique at the line. Very frail... needs to put on 20-30 lbs. of muscle to become a legitimate BBS center. Some question if he'll be able to box out stronger PF/C's in the league. Can ignite the break with an outlet pass but that's the extent of his passing skills. He should never be handling the ball in the open floor, otherwise you'll have problems. Some question his maturity - was suspended for first semester because of academic issues. He'll be one of the youngest players in the league (graduated HS at 17, late birthday). Rumors of his rampant marijuana use are floating around - scouts aren't too thrilled.
Projection: Top 15 is a possibility if a GM wants to take a risk. More likely than not, he'll fall in the draft due to the 'character issues'. He'd benefit by going back to school and proving that he's mature. Wouldn't hurt for him to add some muscle, develop a post move or two, and work on his free throw shooting.
