Three seasons ago, the Jazz were a 60 win team loaded with promising youth. Now, they hardly scratch out 40 and have two terrible contracts weighing down the franchise. What went wrong? Is it all Andrew's fault, or did TCs do him in? What would you have done differently?
You can’t blame anyone but Andrew. Bad TC or not there is no excuse for giving Ivan the type of contract that he did. Andrew could say “well I didn’t know Ivan would be making that much” but if he did some research he’d realize just how ludicrous his deal is. I think that’s the biggest thing that’s holding him down.. he has two overpaid, aging players in Okafor and Ivan who aren’t helping him win games and are impossible to move. He’s basically locked with this team until their contracts expire unless he overpays to have someone take those contracts off his hands which is probably unlikely.
Andy's back and wants a team. When he left, he was one of the most valued members of BBS. But he left abruptly without giving reason and was still hanging out on other similar online forums. Is it anyone's business to blame him for leaving BBS in the manner he did, or should he be welcomed back with no questions asked? Does he have to prove himself?
I like Andy but I don’t get why everyone is on the guy’s dick. He was a good GM, but I wouldn’t put him in the top 15 on any Best GMs list. The fact that he just disappeared but was still on Porno sites says it all. What “events” could have possibly occurred that would make him leave the “sim life” completely? Did he become addicted to masturbation? Almost lose his job, his wife, his family, his friends because of his porno addiction? Come on. He can prove himself but sticking around for two to three months. I’ll give him 3 weeks.
Chris Martinez took over a great situation in Dallas, and has seemingly been in cruise control mode ever since. He's had his share of good draft picks but has never gone for the kill or even cashed in on his youth. Do you credit him for the job he has done, or is being in the Contract Year after inheriting a great situation a sign that he isn't doing a great job with his roster?
I think I’ve done everything I can with this team. If one thing I’ve learned from Reilly and Outlawz is not to just jump on any deal patience is key and with all the pieces I currently own why not? Xavier Henry, McGahee, Roy, and Barnes form probably one of deepest backcourts in the league. Joffer and Camby could become studs in their own right and adding veterans Hadadi and Brand will only solidigy their frontcourt. We still have a ton of picks left, and should have no problem reaching 40 wins this season. Having flexible cap room and a nice mixture of veterans and rookies is a luxury a majority of the teams don’t have.
Grade the offseasons of the following teams:
Seattle Supersonics – B + - made some nice moves to stay young and competitive
New York Knicks – C – didn’t do much
Memphis Grizzlies - B – didn’t improve but didn’t get worse either
Orlando Magic – B- – made some decent moves, but never liked the Stephenson deal
Golden State Warriors – F - Horrible
Who wins BBS this year and why? –
It’s a crapshoot and impossible to tell, but the Winner will come from the East and will be NY, MIA or DET.
Take your pick...please judge TALENT only:
DeJuan Blair or Derrick Rose - Rose
Corey Fisher or Matias Nocedal - Fisher
Delvon Roe or Tyler Hansbrough – Hansborough
Hahn Owens or Karron Johnson - Johnson
Rodney Stuckey or Hasheem Thabeet - Thabeet
Ebener or Mark - Mark
Jordan or Skillz - Skillz
Ducky or Blue - Blue
Pig or DJ - DJ
Assemble the best starting lineup of players making under 10 mil a year that aren't on rookie contracts.
C Brand
PF Cousins
SF Aminu
SG Strickland
PG Dominic Cheek
And, of course, call someone out in 50 insulting words or less.
I love everyone.
