I dont think so, look at who Williams has had throwing to him.
To be as good as he's been I think it's not bad value at all.

If any team can afford to give up 3 draft picks for a WR, it's Dallas. Roy Williams is a beast.
The Lions made out well in this trade, hopefully for their sake they'll hit on their draft choices.

Roy Williams stud? lol[/quote Of course he is. Guy is a total beast on the field. He's physical, makes it so hard for a DB to make a play on balls, and he is one of the hardest guys to man up on. Great WR.

Great WR. Good WR. Far from a stud. You're crazy Marty Marty. He's been on a terrible team with virtually noone opposite him worth a damn and a revolving door of QB's. But even if none of that was true look at how he plays. He's big,he's physical,he's fast damn,if you dont think he's a stud WR you better stick to European futbol.

I'm with Marty on this one - he's a good receiver. Not a stud receiver.

Roy Williams is a stud. He hasn't played his best football yet.
The Cowboys are loaded at the skill positions. If the offensive can keep Romo upright when he comes back, that offense could be scary. You can't double team both Roy and TO without giving up the middle of the field to Witten... something's going to have give.

I don't care how good you guys think Roy Williams is. That is way too much for him. Williams needed to get out of Detroit (for both sides) and this is amazing value for him.
He can be a very good and even a gamechanging WR, but he is not elite at all. He provides matchup problems more than anything. I don't see him making a huge impact for the Cowboys but he has the potential to make a huge impact. At the same time, this could be as big of a backfire as Pacman has been. The Cowboys' offense looks unstoppable on paper (and it could be). However, they have too many places the ball can go for everyone to get their touches.
I really see this is as a desperation move by the Cowboys because they are starting to come apart. If this works out they will be tough to beat in the weak NFC, but I don't think is going to be as big of a deal as it is being made out to be.

The Pacman thing isnt comparable to me. He cost virtually nothing and there were stips on that 5th round pick that if he got suspended again Dallas gets it back. He has'nt played in so long he was rusty and was just starting to get used to the gamespeed again when this happened. It was a no lose situation.
I think this is a good move. Roy is a proven WR. It takes generally at least 2 yrs for WR's to play well in the NFL. Roy is one of the few that was very good right off the bat. Look it up, the list there isnt long.
TO is getting older and doesnt have the burst, he's having a harder time getting off the line and Roy should be at least as good if not better than TO was. I'm betting better,we'll see.

I was just using Pacman as an example of a backfire. If Roy causes any problems (which he is very capable of doing) then this team will come apart even faster. I really don't see Wade Phillips being able to hold the team togethor for the rest of this year.

I've never read or heard anything bad about Roy's attitude or work ethic. May be something I have'nt heard but he's not the prima donna like TO,Ocho Cinco etc.I dont think.
Phillips is a different matter now. Lotta talk around here he's a big part of the problem not the solution. I think he's one of those guys that's a great coordinator as a head coach.

Roy Williams is a slightly quicker version of a Keyshawn Johnson and I am THE BIGGEST Keyshawn Johnson fan but I never would put him as a top 10 WR at any point of his career. I think Keyshawn is one of the best possession receiver's of all time but not among the greatest all-around WRs.
Roy Williams is a great possession WR, he's not a big play guy. He'll catch the balls down the middle and hold on, but he won't give you big plays of let's say the Steve Smith's, TO's, Edward's, Boldin's, Fitzgerald's etc of the league do.
Blame the "revolving" door of QBs all you want, he is what he is, a REALLY REALLY good possession WR. Possession WRs are always the #2 WR in on the depth chart(in most cases.)
Hell, he wasn't even the #1 in Detroit, Calvin Johnson was and yes Calvin Johnson is an ABSOLUTE BEAST.
Johnson > Williams
and I agree with Jordan completely, you don't do this deal if you're Dallas. Is Dallas in really that good of a shape to give up a 1st round pick? Romo is out a month and they haven't played great the past two weeks even with him!
They had a bunch of 3rd round picks so I can see why they gave that up. I was thinking at MOST a 2nd or 3rd round pick, not 3!

I can see why Dallas does this deal, with Terrell Owens getting up their in age(what is he 35?) they needed a replacement at the WR position. Roy Williams will never be TO but he'll be able to hold down the fort until they find that next real stud at WR to play along side Roy.
