I joined towards the end of BBS 1. I joined the year that Reilly had virtually every pick of the Jordan Draft. Clips had never made the playoffs and we won 1 ring that final season i think. I think my first deal was with Basone too.

Lumley is my age, but completely crazy. Hes a great guy, but he has add times like 1000. He worked too much and told crazy stories. He also only slept like 5 hours a night. Complete unique individual. Duce was a pretty good GM, but hes a head case. He was just too sensitive. He took things way to literally and quit. then he came back as another name and quit. Scuba steve was only in the league for like a month. he didnt do anything except suck. ducei s a DOUCHEBAG

Figured I'd do this since I'm an original member.
I'm Galo. I been doing sims since my sophomore year in high school. One of my friends that still my friend to this day (Garrett aka XTCICE123) introduced me to BBS and FHFS (a sim baseball league that ran for about 5 years) in an English class. I been hooked ever since. But, it hasn't been without mishaps.
I went to a technical high school and I was a computer high school major (I'm going somewhere with this, promise). Well, we were in a computer hardware class one time and we were fuckin around on AIM. Well I guess I left the class and forgot to take off the settings on my login to my screen name.
Later I find out that some other guys that were in the class before us the next day logged on with my screen name and started talking shit and annoying all the people on my buddy list. Next thing I know I hear Spencer gets mad at me for the stuff that guy told him and kicked me out of the league. Before this time, Spencer was not Commish of the league but he soon assumed control of the league instead of the other predecessor (can't remember the dude's name who ran it before. Anyway, I was kicked out and I was pissed cause Spence didn't believe me and it was over some bullshit.
I told Garrett to try to keep me in good graces and I still talked to Lumley unsurprisingly because he talked to everybody. Two or three years later, I cant remember now. I was talking to Lumley and he was telling me about the new BBS with Spence still running it. He was asking me if I wanted in and I was like sure. So he asked Spencer and he contacted me. He would take me back but would let me know if a spot opened up. A month or so later, he gave me the Memphis Grizzlies. And I've been back ever since.
My fondest memory in BBS has to be in the BBS2 when I won back-to-back titles in the creation year and the year after. I built a nice team around very good point guards (Jason Kidd then Sam Cassell). Since then, I been really busy and active with other things but I've managed to keep up with the league cause it's still fun and a challenge. I've probably never been the best GM but I know a thing or two about FBB. It's still challenging though which is what I like about Spence and BBS. It's always a challenge to compete, retool and do it all over again. You got to make smart moves and you must be somewhat active on the trade front and on the boards.
I also found it interesting that out of all the times I've rebuilt through the draft, I've only landed the #1 pick twice (David Robinson in BBS Retro, and Derrick Rose in BBS2000). Compared to all the times DJ has got it over the years, it's pretty wack hahaha.
My GMing skills have been questioned over the years and I'll admit I've been pretty bad but I still like to build teams the way I want and win always when possible. Out of all the originals outside of Spence, I would say I get along the best with Chris recently and DJ probably in the past.
Overall, I love being in this league, Spencer is the man for keeping this going so long. It always amazes me how long it's been since it started and kept running. It's gonna be a sad day when it's all over but I know that's not gonna be for a good while. Hopefully I'll have the time and effort to be there till that time. It's funny though seeing where we are now (simming 10 days per day, 5 days regularly) when I remember Spence used to only sim 1 DAY PER ACTUAL DAY. So, it's pretty surreal.

This is mostly for Justin, but it could also help the n00bs. Im Spencer, started BBS back in 2003? Not sure on the exact date, but I think it was 03. This is the 3rd version of BBS and weve probably spanned 50+ seasons. Id say our total post count for all our MBs is 300,000. When I started BBS I simmed 1 day a day and we changed ratings based on the progression of real players. It sucked! Original BBS members are..... DJ AllStar Galo? I think Jordan Chris was in the first version really earlier on, but not an original member I believe. Mark joined and got Dan, Pig and Aaron involved. They are all from NC! Northern Connecticut(YEE DUCKY) I think JAH was the first person from NBN in BBS and slowly many from NBN have joined. Lots of guys currently in BBS have had multiple stays. Play, Maniac, AllStar, Pig, Galo, Scott, Justin, Skillz. Im sure theres more info to share as this post grows. I don't think I started with the original draft. but I did get the team before the first season actually started though, I think the guy who had the Spurs just quit and I got the team. My SN was Fiesta05Marty. Despite what many people think, I've only quit once(when I went to Spain for like two months this was int he second BBS) and only "fired" once and that was in this BBS. Do I ask Spencer for advice on trades? Yes and no. Sometimes, I ask him what he thinks just to do the opposite. Other times I don't ask him at all. One person I would ask for advice alot would be Hernando who's obviously not here. I still think the last version of BBS will always be the best version. Regardless of the talent level, I just think the GMs in that time period were much more social and just easier to get along with. Most of those guys are gone and it sucks. I think my most memorable moment was making Duce cry and quit. It's memorable because at the start it was totally unintentional and if you don't know me by now, if you keep responding to me, I won't shutup, hello, why do you think all the older guys just ignore me? Duh. As much as some as you pre-madonnas hate me, I will talk trade with anyone, doesn't matter who, after all it's just a SIM league. Duce will always be in my heart.

I'm sad I went to bed. I like to be sentimental. LOLZ I'm like Tiger. Good sim from Zo. :-) :-) :-) :-) Chemistry with Dan was amazing. We were lab partners, but the girls next to us gave us all the answers and usually worked with us, so we spent those 96 or so minutes just talking about BBS. During regular class, we just wrote our lineups down with ratings and projected ratings and all that garbage. So much fun. The three of us would sit in our lounge and talk sim until inevitably someone we weren't close friends with would listen in and we'd have to explain it to them. I mean, I can recall asking to go to the bathroom junior year and running to the library two floors down to check if sim was up. We've been obsessed with BBS for awhile. Mark was a dick who loved BBS but always found a reason to quit. He didn't want to be as into it as he was, I think. He always talked about when he'd leave. Sucks bro, GTFO. I was an awful, awful GM when I first got into BBS. Reilly ripped me so badly in my first trade. I dealt him like Shaq and the next year's first or second pick (Larry Nance) for the 4th pick and expirings. I made the playoffs maybe two or three times in ten seasons there. Pretty cool how much of a constant BBS has been for three and a half years now. First thing I check when I open my computer, and on like 90% of the days the past 3.5 years, there's been a sim to check. I can't believe we even simmed 4 times a week when I joined. That'd be brutal. No commish can do what Spence does, really. Sometimes I think I'm shocked my life doesn't suffer from being in BBS. Then I wonder if it does, and I just don't realize this. Then I check sim!!!!
